New/Mode closes second impact funding round
New/Mode, the world’s fastest growing advocacy and engagement platform, has announced that it has closed its second impact investment round. The new resources will enable New/Mode to empower more people and communities to participate in meaningful civic engagement.
The largest contributor in the funding round was Luminate (founded by The Omidyar Group) and other supporters include New Media Ventures, Higher Ground Labs, Rhiza Capital, Vancity Credit Union, along with other non-profit and individual impact funders.
New/Mode’s powerful multi-channel platform, which includes calling, email, fax, social, and letter to the editor tools, is currently being used by 300 of the world’s leading causes, organizations, and campaigns to win on the most important issues of our time. The platform powers millions of civic actions around the world, making it a staple of modern campaigns.
“New/Mode’s multi-channel advocacy and engagement platform already powers over 16 million civic actions, and this funding will help us grow that democratic engagement dramatically,” says Steve Anderson, New/Mode’s co-founder and CEO.
“We firmly believe that civic tools must scale to meet the challenges before us and we plan to be an important part of that solution.”
Currently, New/Mode works in the US, Canada, UK, EU, and Australia, but could be used anywhere democratic participation exists. These new contributions will expand New/Mode’s access to new communities and evolve its cutting-edge features, enabling even more cause-based organizations to activate grassroots power, reach decision-makers and win campaigns.
With this funding, New/Mode continues to be backed by a growing network of social venture funds, credit union and credit union-based funds, our non-profit customers, and digital campaign strategists, along with New/Mode staff and other individual impact investors.
“This funding will enable New/Mode to empower more people and communities to ensure public institutions meet our needs,” Steve Anderson says, adding that two of New/Mode’s major goals for 2020 are to activate 11 million more people and sign up 1,255 new causes.
To help meet those goals, the company has doubled its team of former campaigners, organizers, strategists, and developers to 22 people.
