❤️ 350.org - Letter to the Editor Campaign Telling the Real Story of Climate Change
Raging wildfires from Canada are covering the United States with smog. Many communities in the U.S. are no strangers to climate disasters: Intense heat, out-of-control wildfires, deadly floods, and many more. Despite the devastating climate disasters happening across the country, media outlets refuse to name the culprit. This is why we need to call on them to tell the real story about the climate crisis

📺 UBI Works Receives National Media Attention
Operation Revocation, a collaborative rescue by Animal Rescue Corps, ASPCA, Animal Rescue League of Iowa, and others, rescued over 500 dogs and puppies from an egregious puppy mill in Iowa.
Now, that rescue and Goldie, one of the dogs from that puppy mill who, heartbreakingly, could not be saved in time, have inspired powerful legislation such as Goldie’s Act. If passed, this act will help protect dogs like Goldie by closing loopholes in the Animal Welfare Act and strengthening requirements for USDA inspectors who observe cruelty and abuse.
Goldie’s Act was reintroduced as a small victory in April 2023, but it needs your help to pass. Using New/Mode’s digital advocacy tools, you can sign the petition and send a letter here to make the change happen.
Using New/Mode's petition tool, advocates quickly gathered over 2,900 signatures urging Premier David Eby and critical decision-makers to intervene and protect the cooperative. The petition, hosted on our newmode.net platform, allowed supporters to quickly sign and share their concerns about the sudden closure of BC Tree Fruits. Key features that drove the campaign's success included:
- Rapid Petition Launch: Our user-friendly interface allowed organizers to create and launch the petition quickly, responding swiftly to the urgent situation.
- Targeted Messaging: The petition was automatically delivered to relevant officials, including Premier Eby and Agriculture Minister Pam Alexis, ensuring the message reached key decision-makers.
- Easy Sharing: Built-in social sharing tools helped the petition gain traction, leading to widespread community engagement.
While the outcome is still unfolding, this campaign has prompted government response, including funding boosts announced in Penticton. By providing the tools to mobilize support and directly reach decision-makers quickly, the campaign has given voices to the concerns of nearly 300 farming families and their supporters.
