Turn social media likes into real world change

Social media, whether you love it or hate it, can significantly increase the awareness of your campaign. This is true even with many of the unfortunate changes that have been imposed on many social media platforms as of late.

The good news is you don’t need to hire a social media expert or spend lots of money to build your online community and showcase your unique voice.

Here are some easy and cost effective steps to get more people to take action on social media:

1. User-Generated Content (UGC): Encourage your followers to create and share content related to your cause and how they are supporting your organization. UGC is a cost-effective way to increase your reach and credibility.

One thing we’ve seen work well at New/Mode is campaigners sharing letters submitted via our unique Letter-to-The-Editor tool. It’s exciting to share letters that get published in a newspaper on social media, but your supporters will likely submit many other great letters. You can also RT great tweets from supporters who use our Tweet Storm tool.

2. Use New/Mode to boost your campaign: Our new Campaign Boost feature automatically invites your supporters to make contributions to help New/Mode promote your campaign on social media. If you're working with a grassroots groups, this feature can be accessed when you sign up for our free Grassroots Advocacy Platform.

3. Keep it human: Boost trust in your campaign  by putting people in your photos. Including real people in your posts makes your cause or campaign more personable by showing real people supporting your cause.

4. Stand out You should make your images pop with bold colors. You want your images to jump out at people as they scroll through feeds. Choose a color palette for your photos that really stands out. Check out how EveryDoctor stands out.

Use illustrations or images to make your campaign more relatable. Use them to break down a complex idea or highlight how your organization is making a change.

We hope you can use these tips in your next campaign!
