Trump just ended DACA. New/Mode is here to help you fight back.

When the Trump administration announced the repeal of DACA last week, it swiftly put the lives of 800,000 immigrant youth at risk — young people who came to the US as children and who rely on the program to live and work in the country, contributing to nearly every major American industry.

This is particularly cruel, as the US is the only country many of these folks have known. The repeal means that hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients could be deported as early as March 2018.

The move is the latest in a slew of anti-immigrant, white supremacist policies from an administration that continues to put the lives of people of colour in jeopardy.

The move is the latest in a slew of anti-immigrant, white supremacist policies from an administration that continues to put the lives of people of colour in jeopardy. From a clumsy travel ban on people from Muslim countries, to withholding funding for “sanctuary cities”, to building a border wall, the White House continues to advance policies that weaken our communities, threaten our neighbours, and undermine our democracy.

But as we’ve seen over the last several months, the one thing that can confront this dangerous agenda is an engaged, grassroots movement powerful enough to hold our leaders accountable.

From protecting healthcare for 22 million Americans, to galvanizing states to stand up for climate action, to defeating the Muslim ban, we’ve seen what can happen when people and organizations come together to empower supporters, speak out against injustice, and demand action.

If we’re going to stand up for immigrants and defend DACAmented youth, we need to bring that movement power to bear — and quickly. Congress has just 6 months to pass legislation that protects 800,000 immigrant youth and prevent mass deportations.

That’s why New/Mode is providing our sophisticated campaign engagement tools — free of charge — to organizations mobilizing to protect DACA recipients and fight back against Trump’s attacks on immigrant youth over the coming weeks and months.

The fate of hundreds of thousands of immigrants is now is Congress’s hands, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest legislative battles of this administration. New/Mode has the tools to help organizations engage more people in this battle, empower supporters to take action, and push Congress to do what’s right. We want to put those tools to work to defend immigrants and stand up against hate.

…the one thing that can confront this dangerous agenda is an engaged, grassroots movement powerful enough to hold our leaders accountable.

We believe that DACAmented youth should not be forced back into the shadows, and it’s time to organize, mobilize, and fight for the entire immigrant community. Inspired by the bravery and courage of so many on front lines of this battle, we’re hoping our small contributions amplifies the voices of those who need to be heard most right now.
